Nagarjuna Sagar Dam Gates Open - ఎగువ నుంచి వస్తున్న భారీ వరద ప్రవాహంతో నాగార్జునసాగర్‌ జలాశయం నిండుకుండలా మారింది. దీంతో ప్రాజెక్టు క్రస్ట్‌ గేట్లు ఎత్తి నీటిని దిగువకు విడుదల చేశారు. ఈ కార్యక్రమంలో మంత్రులు ఉత్తమ్‌ కుమార్‌ రెడ్డి, అడ్లూరి లక్ష్మణ్‌, పలువురు ఉన్నతాధికారులు పాల్గొన్నారు. ప్రాజెక్టు పూర్తి సామర్థ్యం 590.00 అడుగులకుగాను ప్రస్తుతం 586.60 అడుగులకు చేరింది. ప్రాజెక్టు గేట్లు ఎత్తిన నేపథ్యంలో.. దిగువ భాగంలో లోతట్టు ప్రాంతాల ప్రజలు అప్రమత్తంగా ఉండాలని అధికారులు హెచ్చరికలు జారీ చేశారు. 18 ఏళ్ల తర్వాత.. నెల ముందుగానే నాగార్జున సాగర్‌ నుంచి నీటిని విడుదల చేయడం ఇదే తొలిసారి.
For the first time in 18 years, and a month ahead of schedule, the crest gates of the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam have been lifted to release floodwaters downstream. With upstream inflows surging, the reservoir has transformed into a breathtaking full-capacity basin, prompting water release operations.
